Montessori Corner strives for educational excellence. Our mission is to provide for each of its students a well-rounded, individualized educational and developmental experience that is based on Montessori principles that nurtures a love of learning.

All classes are staffed by a certified Montessori teacher and an associate. Classes are organized on a three-year model. Continuity of learning develops a strong foundation which is built upon year after year. This provides a familiar setting which encourages long-term friendships and allows for maximum advantage of the teacher/student relationship.

Toddler (Country Day Campus)

The Toddler program (children 1.5 - 3 yrs) is available at our Country Day School campus. The child takes the important step from the family into a community of friendship, trust, respect and safety.

Early Childhood (Princeton Meadows & Children's House)

The Early Childhood programs (children 2.5 - 3.5 yrs), available at Princeton Meadows and Children's House, provide an opportunity to explore and experiment. Children develop independence, language skills, sensory awareness, order and routine.

Primary

The Primary program (children 3 - 6 yrs), available at all three locations, has a prepared environment that encourages increased independence and active participation in the learning process. The Montessori manipulative materials enable students to progress at their own pace. Children receive individualized and group instruction in an atmosphere of cooperation and non-competitiveness.

Elementary

The Elementary program (children 6 - 12 yrs), available at our Country Day School campus, anticipates that the children have acquired basic language, reading, writing, mathematical and cultural skills in the Primary class. With this experience, they are ready to explore the world at large--what Montessori calls "Cosmic Education." --including the sciences, the arts and the universe. Elementary Montessori classes continue to bring children of different age levels together allowing children to progress at their own pace. Students at this level explore the realm of mathematics, science and technology, the world of myth, great literature, history, world geography, civics, economics, anthropology, and the basic organization of human societies. Their studies cover memorization of math facts, spelling lessons, and the study of vocabulary, grammar, sentence analysis, creative and expository writing, and library research skills. During the school week, the elementary students have concentrated work periods in art, French, music, and physical education.

Early and Extended Hours

Early Hours and Extended Hours programs are available to all students as needed. These programs blend traditional and Montessori materials in a classroom setting while maintaining Montessori standards. Children are exposed to a variety of work choices from practical life to special art projects.

Faculty

Montessori Corner teachers have completed additional training in the Montessori method beyond their college degree and teacher certification.  As the model school for the Montessori Teacher Training Institute of NJ, our faculty strives to meet the highest standards. "To help children help themselves" is the aim of the Montessori Corner faculty.
